چکیده

blood insulin levels in our study. Secondly, cord blood insulin concentrations decrease if collected in heparin and stored at room temperature[1]. But in our study, the samples were collected in EDTA and immediately refrigerated. The third explanation could be the pulsatile release and shorter half-life of insulin coupled with its possible fluctuations during delivery[1]. To conclude, neither neonatal anthropometry nor cord insulin levels show sexual dimorphism at birth among Indian children. Being an observational cross-sectional study with limited sample size, our results need validation from larger studies.

Combination of tetralogy of Fallot with absent pulmonary valve and left pulmonary artery originating from patent ductus arteriosus: A rare association in an infant

A 6-month-old female infant was transferred because of respiratory distress. A chest radiograph demonstrated a well delineated, huge mass on the upper and middle part of the right lung (Fig. 1). Twodimensional echocardiography showed dilatation of the right ventricle, main pulmonary artery (20 mm, z score +4.4) and right pulmonary artery (22 mm, z score +7.8) but dilatation of the left pulmonar...

Main indications and long-term outcomes of reoperation after initial repair of tetralogy of Fallot

Background and Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze our indications, surgical procedures, and clinical outcomes of patients undergoing reoperation after surgical correction of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Methods: Thirty seven consecutive patients who underwent reoperation late after intra-cardiac repair of TOF within a period of 10 years were assessed. Results: The most co...

Stent migration after right ventricular outflow tract stenting in the severe cyanotic Tetralogy of Fallot case

We report our experience with a stent migration after right ventricle outflow tract stenting and converted to patent ductus arteriosus stenting in Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with severe infundibular stenosis. Finally, the patient achieved to TOF repair, and the migrated stent was removed without any complication.

Right ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease

Introduction:  In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...

Questions remaining about the surgical correction of tetralogy of Fallot.

T etralogy of Fallot is the most common cyanotic congenital heart lesion. Its anatomical features were first described by Stenson in 1672. In 1888 Fallot published his clinical observations, linking the four elements he considered to be the main anatomical abnormalities (interventricular septal defect, stenosis of the right ventricular outflow tract, right ventricular hypertrophy and an aorta t...
